No fewer than 42 bathrooms were included in the extensive renovation of the Van der Valk hotel "De Witte Bergen" in the Dutch town of Eemnes. Located close to Hilversum and just a short distance from Amsterdam and Utrecht, it offers its guests an ideal location and a wide range of recreational facilities. It is also geared towards business customers with numerous conference and meeting rooms. The hotel relied on the expertise of Schlüter-Systems and the tile wholesaler Julius van der Werf to bring the bathrooms up to date. He has been a partner of both the Van der Valk hotels and Schlüter-Systems for many years and, together with the specialist consultants from the Iserlohn company, accompanied the project from the start of construction to completion.
It sounds logical, although such a renovation also presents challenges: not every room is the same. Despite the different conditions in the bathrooms, it was important for all those involved to implement a uniform concept. A major contribution to this was the TRENDLINE portfolio from Schlüter-Systems. From profiles for elegant edge protection to practical storage shelves as well as functional drainage channels, all products can be ideally matched to each other as well as to the tiled surface. The texture-coated surfaces are as much a visual as a tactile experience and offer almost endless design options.
And that is exactly what the planners and contractors at the Van der Valk hotel have capitalised on. To match the attractive ceramics, several Schlüter products in stone grey (TSSG) were used. The edges of the tiled surfaces are reliably protected from damage by the Schlüter-JOLLY finishing profile and also attractively highlighted. The rectangular profile geometry of JOLLY makes it quick and easy to create a clean and symmetrical edge and corner finish with a discreet yet decorative visible surface. On the wall, Schlüter-SHELF in WAVE design offers a practical storage surface that integrates perfectly with the tiled surface thanks to the identical textured coating.
Stylish and also easy to clean: For a hotel bathroom that is used and cleaned daily, these properties of Schlüter-KERDI-LINE-VARIO linear drainage are of considerable benefit. Not only does the flexible system look good, but the undulating design of the drain also has an effective self-cleaning effect and makes work easier for the hotel staff. The same textured coating in stone grey can also be found here – the discreet COVE drainage profile harmonises perfectly with the ensemble and is flanked by the SHOWERPROFILE-S triangular profile.
"The fact that we were able to implement an overall concept from a single source and in a single colour makes the project so special", says a delighted Project Manager Henny Veenendaal from Julius van der Werf. Along with the tile wholesaler, tiling contractors Van der Wardt Bouw and DRIZA Tegelwerken were also involved in this successful renovation. The new bathrooms at the Van der Valk "De Witte Bergen" hotel offer guests functional bathroom comfort in an attractive design.
We are very proud of the result and the collaboration with all those involved, from the installer to the tiler.
