Schlüter-LIPROTEC-WS  Carrier profile

Illuminate protruding wall panels with various LIPROTEC-ES LED strips integrated into this LIPROTEC-WS carrier profile, made of anodised aluminium. Different lighting effects can be achieved in combination with two different diffuser lenses (warm white, neutral white and various hues controllable). You can directly or indirectly illuminate surface-mounted wall panels, for example made of KERDI-BOARD installation boards. For this purpose, we also have the LIPROTEC-WSD and LIPROTEC-WSI diffuser lenses in our range.

Available in three lengths, from 1 to 2.5 m.

General product information

What this product does

Schlüter-LIPROTEC-WS are high-quality carrier profiles for the attachment of Schlüter-LIPROTEC-ES LED strips.

In combination with KERDI-BOARD installation panels, recessed indirect or direct lighting for on-wall structures can be realised.

Differing lighting effects can be created by using two different diffuser lenses.

The Schlüter-LIPROTEC-WSI diffuser lens is designed to fit the short leg of Schlüter-LIPROTEC-WS. This enables indirect lighting to be emitted back over adjacent materials.

When using the Schlüter-LIPROTEC-WSD diffuser lens, direct lighting is possible in addition to indirect lighting. Depending on the application, in the corner area or integrated into the covering, it is possible to determine the degree of direct lighting.

The diffuser lenses and LEDs used with all profiles of the Schlüter-LIPROTEC series can be replaced even in installed condition.

Matching end caps are available as accessories.

How to install this product

Note: Please observe the corresponding Schlüter-LIPROTEC installation instructions for installing lighting technology and for planning and positioning cables - especially for the Schlüter-LIPROTEC set versions.

  1. Drill and deburr the cable conduit through the profile.
  2. Schlüter-LIPROTEC-WS is adhered with the installation adhesive Schlüter-KERDI-FIX or an equivalent material. A line of adhesive is applied to the external surfaces of the profile to be bonded, which is then positioned. Remove any substances that may inhibit bonding, such as grease etc. prior to applying the installation adhesive.
  3. Remove any excess adhesive using a suitable cleaning product.
  4. To achieve adhesive bonding between the smooth aluminium surface and the tile, the self-adhesive fleece Schlüter-DESIGNBASE-HVL is fitted.
  5. If the Schlüter-LIPROTEC-WS is used as an edging, then the corners must be mitre-cut. The use of a speed adjustable cross-cut and mitre saw with a suitable saw blade is recommended (see also product data sheet and Schlüter-LIPROTEC-VB installation instructions).
5a. If the Schlüter-LIPROTEC-WSK profile is installed at the perimeter of a covering, the corner formations must be created with mitre cuts. We recommend the use of a mitre saw with adjustable speed and suitable saw blade (see also product data sheet and installation guide for Schlüter-LIPROTEC-VB). The corner connectors Schlüter-LIPROTEC-D/V are available for the mechanical connection of the mitre cuts. One corner connector must be planned for each mitre connection (see also product data sheet 15.2 and installation guide LT-MA 3).

What this product is made from

Schlüter-LIPROTEC-WS is available in the following materials:

Profile:

  • AE = anodised aluminium

Diffuser lenses:

  • PMMA = Polymethyl methacrylate

Material properties and areas of application

In applications exposed to chemical or mechanical stresses, the profile’s suitability must be verified.

The information provided below is intended as a general guideline.

Schlüter-LIPROTEC-WS (anodised aluminium): The aluminium features an anodised finish that retains a uniform appearance during normal use.

Damaged anodised surfaces can be restored with paint.

Surface areas must be protected against abrasion or scratching. Aluminium is sensitive to alkaline media. Cementitious materials, in conjunction with moisture, become alkaline, which may result in corrosion depending on the concentration and length of exposure (aluminium hydroxide formation). For this reason, remove adhesive or grouting material immediately from all visible areas and do not cover freshly installed coverings with foil.

LIPROTEC diffuser lenses are made of a slightly structured, translucent thermoplastic PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate).

Alcohol (e.g. rubbing alcohol) as well as detergents with a surfactant content over 5% can cause damage to the diffuser lens.

Note: The profiles with their diffuser lens covers must be positioned so that no water can collect inside.

How to look after this product

Schlüter-LIPROTEC-WS requires no special maintenance or care. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents on the sensitive surfaces.

Damaged anodised surfaces can be restored with paint.

All cleaning agents must be free of hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acid.

Due to minor heat development of the Schlüter LED strips used in the profile, the expansion of the profile and the utilised diffuser lens may differ.
