Here at Schlüter-Systems, ensuring the structural integrity of a building through effective waterproofing has always been of paramount importance. NHBC, in their latest Technical Guidance 9.2/06 'Substrates for tiling bath and shower enclosures, wet rooms, and bathroom pods,' further emphasises this.
Any residential construction in the UK beginning on or after 1st January 2025 and seeking an NHBC warranty must adhere to this Technical Guidance. The document prohibits the use of magnesium oxide boards and defines what substrates can be used in bathrooms without a power shower and in wet rooms or bathrooms with a power shower.
It is required that all waterproofing solutions, irrespective of the substrate used, must hold appropriate certifications such as a a European Assessment Document (EAD).
Use our interactive NHBC guidance tool to help select the appropriate solution for your particular situation.
