A magnificent high-end residential project located in the peaks of Saddleworth in Manchester, saw the renovation of an old barn come to life. The property is situated on an old working farm surrounded by acres of land, creating quite the tranquil setting. Included in the barn renovation is a master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom that can be accessed through the walk-in wardrobe. The bathroom is now elegantly fitted with Schlüter-Systems products, creating a stylish and well-protected space.
A grand feature that stands out within the home are the structural wooden beams that divide the bedroom and en-suite. The team spent a significant amount of time bringing the beams back to life, creating a clear contrast between old and modern. With the support of CTH Joinery & Carpentry Ltd, the client specified a requirement for the renovation to meet the highest standards. To achieve this, the homeowner put their trust into the director of the company, Chris Halifax, by giving him free reign to develop his ideas and bring them to life. The complete bathroom consists of a range of Schlüter-Systems products in order to guarantee the immaculate finish that the client hoped for.
Warmth is key to achieving a luxurious feel in any space, and our underfloor heating made it easy for that to be possible. Chris stripped everything back to start fresh, then installed Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT-DUO-PS under the floor, providing added benefits of sound reduction and a fast warm up. Schlüter-DITRA-HEAT-E was also installed on the wall areas, ensuring the en-suite would be as welcoming as possible and to maximise comfort all over. For easy control, the voice activated thermostat DITRA-HEAT-E-R6 was used. This, paired with the clients’ requirements to include surround sound speakers and a TV at the end of the bath introduced an efficient and interactive element into the bathroom.
Using Schlüter-KERDI-BOARD in 19mm thickness, Chris was able to create a solid, entirely waterproof substrate to tile onto. Paired with this, the use of Schlüter-KERDI-COLL and sealing band Schlüter-KERDI-FLEX was used to promise a dependable, secure waterproof solution. It was important to the client that the renovation included some visual elements whilst still incorporating systems that are long lasting. The lighting profile Schlüter-LIPROTEC was used in neutral white to illuminate two beautiful niches, creating a stunning feature for the room. The use of Schlüter-KERDI-KERECK also came of great benefit within the niches to ensure even the smallest of internal corners were protected.
We are so delighted with the work Chris has done and the quality of Schlüter-Systems products.
The homeowner understood the project would take a few months due to the intricate details involved, but they admitted once they first saw the progress, they couldn’t wait for it to be complete! Encapsulating the significance of carefully considered preparation through the use of Schlüter-Systems products, a remarkable finish to this en-suite has provided the homeowner with a luxurious and comforting space for many years ahead.
