General product information

What this product does

Schlüter-KERDI-BOARD-W is a prefabricated element that lets you create an individual vanity unit with a shelf for the water inlet with an inlet fitting for wall mounting provided by the customer. Made from the multifunctional Schlüter-KERDI-BOARD tile substrate, the vanity unit can be covered with tiles directly using the thin bed method.

The unit can easily be adapted to site conditions. It can be installed free-floating using the optionally available wall brackets, or mounted on supports in 50 mm thick Schlüter-KERDI-BOARD for floor mounting. (See also the corresponding data sheet 12.1)

The drain adapter supplied has a permanently attached, flexible KERDI waterproofing collar and a 1¼" connecting thread to connect to commercially available odour traps. Used in conjunction with the prefabricated KERDI-KERS corner pieces supplied, a reliable waterproofing connection to the adjoining wall can also be ensured.

Two designs of drainage profile are available from the KERDI-LINE-VARIO family. These can be individually cut to size, are height adjustable and are supplied with two matching end caps. (See also the corresponding data sheet 8.10)

If needed, our LIPROTEC system offers an extensive range of profiles for custom lighting of the vanity unit.

How to install this product

Floating installation on support feet and niche installation

  1. Determining the installation heights
  2. The KERDI-BOARD vanity unit can be individually adapted to site requirements. For free-standing installation, two supports in at least 50 mm thick KERDI-BOARD are used. These can be positioned as desired to the left and right between the bowl and the ends of the unit.
  3. Because the drainage support is close to the wall, the use of a commonly available pipe siphon is possible only to a limited extent. Here, the design bottle trap or, preferably, a concealed trap, should be used.
  4. The components are force-fitted together using the Schlüter-KERDI-FIX installation adhesive included in the set. Insert the filler pieces into the openings provided for securing the wall brackets.
  5. To provide waterproofing, affix the KERDI-KERS waterproofing collars included in the set with Schlüter-KERDI-COLL-L sealing adhesive (not included). Additionally secure the drain adapter with KERDI-FIX near the drain opening.
  6. For installation in a niche, ensure that there is a minimum overlay of at least 20 mm across the full width of the vanity unit.

Floating installation of the KERDI-BOARD vanity unit with optionally available wall brackets

Caution: The wall substrate must be flat, plumb and with adequate load-absorption capacity.

  1. The KERDI-BOARD vanity unit can be individually adapted to site requirements.
  2. Mark the locations of drill holes using the drilling template supplied.
  3. Apply a sufficient amount of KERDI-FIX to the back of the vanity unit and slide it onto the wall brackets to join firmly with the wall.
  4. To provide waterproofing, affix the KERDI-KERS waterproofing collars included in the set with KERDI-COLL-L sealing adhesive (not included). Additionally secure the drain adapter with KERDI-FIX near the drain opening.

Note: After installation and tiling with tiles or natural stone, the KERDI-BOARD-W vanity unit can withstand a maximum load of 50 kg, irrespective of the type of installation.

What this product is made from

Schlüter-KERDI-BOARD-W is a composite material comprising four layers of extruded rigid XPS foam, with thicknesses of 28 mm, 2x 25 mm and 5 mm. The surfaces of the 28 mm and 5 mm boards are coated with a special, cement-free reinforcement material and a fleece fabric for effective anchoring of thin-bed mortars or rendered covering materials. It features a 10 x 10 mm printed gridline pattern for easier cutting. The boards are force-fit glued together.

Material properties and areas of application

The surface of the KERDI-BOARD vanity unit is waterproof and resistant to any chemical stresses that typically occur in conjunction with tiled coverings. Where required, certified bonded waterproofing can be created in conjunction with Schlüter-KERDI or KERDI-BOARD.

The KERDI-BOARD vanity unit is completely flat and will not warp in response to temperature or moisture fluctuations. The material is age-resistant and highly stable.

It is suitable for a wide variety of applications. Substrates should be checked for sufficient stability and other project-related requirements.

How to look after this product

KERDI-BOARD vanity units should be stored lying flat or in another appropriate form. If stored outdoors, the element should be protected from direct sunlight and exposure to the elements.
