Schlüter-SHOWERPROFILE-WS  Support profile to protect against splashing

Schlüter-SHOWERPROFILE-WS is a high-quality support profile made of anodised aluminium. It offers optimum splash protection in floor-level showers together with the lip inserts Schlüter-SHOWERPROFILE-WSL or -WSC.

SHOWERPROFILE-WS, in conjunction with the straight lip insert SHOWERPROFILE-WSL made of transparent soft PVC, is a total height of 37 mm, offering reliable splash protection for shower areas with an inadequate slope. The lip insert straightens up on its own, for example after wheelchair use or foot traffic.

Thanks to its low assembly height of 2 mm and visible area of 16 mm, SHOWERPROFILE-WS used in combination with the SHOWERPROFILE-WSC semi-circular lip insert made of semi-rigid PVC, creates an unobtrusive transition from the shower area to the adjoining surface.

SHOWERPROFILE-WS is embedded as a support profile in the covering with cementitious tile adhesive.

It has a visible area of 19 mm and a height of 8 mm, which allows for combination with tiles in thicknesses from 8 mm. In case of thicker tiles, the profile is placed in a bed of cementitious tile adhesive.

1. SHOWERPROFILE-WS may be used for flush installation with tiles in thicknesses from 8 mm.
2. Set the tile covering to the place where the splashguard profile SHOWERPROFILE-WS is to be installed.
3. Apply tile adhesive to the back of the profile according to the tile thickness and push it in place until the surface is flush with the adjoining tile covering.
4. Leave a joint of approx. 1.5 mm. Completely fill the space between the tile and the profile with grout.
5. Use suitable materials and tools for the sensitive surfaces to avoid scratches or other damage. Residues of mortar and tile adhesive should be removed immediately.
6. Use mitre cuts for corner formations.
7. Cut the lip inserts SHOWER­PROFILE-WSL or -WSC to size and push them into the profile groove.

In special cases, the suitability of the selected profile type must be verified based on the anticipated chemical, mechanical, and/or other stresses. The information provided below is intended as a general guideline.

SHOWERPROFILE-WS-AE (anodised aluminium): The aluminium features an anodised finish that retains a uniform appearance during normal use.

Surface areas must be protected against abrasion or scratching. Aluminium is sensitive to alkaline media. Cementitious materials, in conjunction with moisture, become alkaline, which may result in corrosion depending on the concentration and length of exposure (aluminium hydroxide formation).

For this reason, remove adhesive or grouting material immediately from all visible areas and do not cover freshly installed coverings with foil. In addition, ensure that the profile is solidly embedded in the setting material to prevent water from accumulating in small cavities.
