Schlüter-SHOWERPROFILE-S  Two-piece triangular profile for floor-level showers

When installing a floor-level shower with linear drainage, the adjoining tile edges become exposed as the shower floor slopes to the drain. Protect these exposed edges with Schlüter-SHOWERPROFILE-S, a flat profile made of brushed stainless steel with a 2% slope (the equivalent of 2 mm for every 10 cm of length).

The second part of SHOWERPROFILE-S features a U-shaped attachment channel, which is available in various heights to accommodate different tile thicknesses. The triangular profile can be used on the left or right side of the floor transition or below the tiles of a lateral wall.

The height can be further adjusted by cutting the extra long triangular profile at the low and/or high side.

General product information

What this product does

Schlüter-SHOWERPROFILE-S is a two part profile with a tapered edge, designed to cover adjoining tile edges that become exposed as the shower floor slopes to accommodate drainage to the Schlüter-KERDI-LINE. The tapered profile features a visible surface of brushed stainless steel and a fleece fabric on the reverse for bonding with the tile adhesive. It is designed to be inserted into the U-shaped groove of the matching hard PVC support profile. The profile can be used for lateral transitions to the wall or the adjoining floor.

The PVC support profile is available in 6 different heights from 6 mm to 22 mm to match the thickness of the tiles installed in the floor of the shower. The sloped profiles are available in lengths of 120 and 200 cm, with a height of 6 or 10 mm at the low side (H1). They feature a slope of 2% (the equivalent of 2 mm for every 10 cm of length).

The profile is simply cut to size at the low and/or high side to achieve the required profile height and length. In addition, the height can be further adjusted by inserting the profile into the U-shaped support section to various depths.

How to install this product

  1. Cut the support profile to the required length and press its trapezoid-perforated anchoring leg firmly into the previously applied adhesive and align it.
  2. Measure the required length and height of the triangular profile (front: low side, back: high side). Keep the insertion depth into the support profile in mind.
  3. Cut the triangular profile to the necessary length for the required height to be obtained.

Note: Shorten the narrow and/or wide profile side to produce the proper height from the extra-long profile. When working with profiles with an EB finish, remove the protective foil prior to installation. Apply tile adhesive to the fleece-laminated reverse side of the profile. Then insert it firmly into the support profile and align it flush with the floor or wall.

What this product is made from

Schlüter-SHOWERPROFILE-S is available in the following materials and finishes:

  • EB = brushed stainless steel (V4A material no. 1.4404 = AISI 316L)
  • TS = V4A stainless steel with textured coating

The stainless steel profiles have a fleece fabric laminated on the underside for bonding with the tile adhesive. The SHOWERPROFILE-S support profile is made of plastic.

Material properties and areas of application

The SHOWERPROFILE-S is available in a wide variety of finishes. Their suitability must be verified in applications exposed to chemical or mechanical stresses. The information provided below is intended as a general guideline. SHOWERPROFILE-S and -R, made of stainless steel V4A (material no. 1.4404 = AISI 316L), are especially suitable for applications that require resistance to chemical exposure and high mechanical stresses. Even stainless steel of quality 1.4404 is not resistant to all chemical stresses, and may be affected by hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acid or certain chloride and brine concentrations, which may occur in cleaning agents or in swimming pools. Suitability for particular anticipated stresses should therefore be clarified in advance.

The TS finish (textured coated stainless steel V4A) features surfaces with a natural appearance. The stainless steel is suitably pre-treated and then powder coated with a polyurethane covering. The coating is colour-stable, as well as UV and weather-resistant. Visible edges should be protected against abrasion and scratching.

How to look after this product

Schlüter-SHOWERPROFILE-S requires no special maintenance or care. The profile can be cleaned along with the covering, using suitable detergents. The visible surfaces of the profiles can be polished with commercial chrome-polishing products. Stainless steel surfaces exposed to the environment or aggressive substances should be cleaned periodically using a mild household cleaner.

Regular cleaning not only maintains the neat appearance of the stainless steel, but also reduces the risk of corrosion.

All cleaning agents must be free of hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acid. Avoid contact with other metals to prevent corrosion. This also includes installation tools such as trowels or steel wool, e.g. for the removal of mortar residue. Abrasive cleaning agents should not be used on sensitive surfaces. We recommend the use of the stainless steel cleaning polish Schlüter-CLEAN-CP.
