General product information

What this product does

Schlüter-KERDI-DRAIN-SP is a stainless steel spout for draining balconies and terraces that are enclosed by a parapet.

The Schlüter-KERDI collar is attached to the large adhesive flange for the simple and safe connection to bonded waterproofing assemblies.

The standard DIN EN 12056 specifies that two independent drainage systems, for example a floor drain and a spout, are required in structures where a continuous parapet entirely prevents drainage through the edge areas. According to construction guidelines, the spout in that case serves as an emergency overflow.

How to install this product

  1. Drill a hole of at least 48 mm through the rising parapet or leave a corresponding opening in new assemblies.
  2. Insert the Schlüter-KERDI-DRAIN-SP spout through the opening such that the flange firmly adjoins the substrate and the parapet. If necessary, use the installation adhesive Schlüter-KERDI-FIX for attachment.
  3. Adhere the Schlüter-KERDI collar to create a waterproof transition to the screed surface.
Then install the adjoining Schlüter-KERDI waterproofing assembly with a sufficient overlap of the collar.
If Schlüter-DITRA is used as a waterproofing membrane, install it first up to the edge of the flange. Then fully embed the Schlüter-KERDI collar with overlap over the DITRA membrane. The Schlüter-KERDI collar can be attached with the sealing adhesive Schlüter-KERDI-COLL-L or the installation adhesive Schlüter-KERDI-FIX. The waterproofing systems of other manufacturers must be connected as specified in the relevant specifications.
Further instructions can be found in the corresponding product data sheets, 6.1 Schlüter-DITRA and 8.1 Schlüter-KERDI.

What this product is made from

Schlüter-KERDI-DRAIN-SP is available in the following material version:

  • E = stainless steel V2A, material no. 1.4301 = AISI 304.

Material properties and areas of application

Even stainless steel is not resistant to all chemical stresses such as hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acid or certain chloride and brine concentrations. In certain cases, this also applies to seawater pools. Special anticipated stresses should therefore always be verified in advance.

How to look after this product

Schlüter-KERDI-DRAIN-SP requires no special maintenance or care. Stainless steel surfaces exposed to the environment or aggressive substances should be cleaned periodically using a mild household cleaner.

Regular cleaning maintains the neat appearance of stainless steel and reduces the risk of corrosion.

All cleaning agents must be free of hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acid.

Avoid contact with other metals, such as regular steel, to prevent corrosion. This also includes installation tools such as trowels or steel wool, e.g. for the removal of mortar residue. We recommend the use of the stainless steel cleaning polish Schlüter-CLEAN-CP.
